Mac OS is an operating system that runs on Macintosh computers. It is pronounced, ” mack-oh-es .” Mac OS has been since the first Macintosh was introduced in 1984. Since then, it is constantly being updated and along with it many new features have also been included in it. Each major OS release is displayed with a new number (eg Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9).
Since the core of Mac OS is more than two decades old, Apple decided that they would completely revamp this operating system. At the same time in March 2001, Apple introduced a completely new version of Mac OS written from Scratch. Now the company dubbed it ” Mac OS X ,” which is correctly pronounced “Mac OS 10.”
Unlike earlier versions of Mac OS, Mac OS X is completely based on the same kernel as Unix and includes many advanced administrative features and utilities. While these operating systems are much more advanced than earlier versions of Mac OS, it still has the same ease-of-use feature that you can expect from Apple software.
